Cascara Sagrada is native to North American, traditionally used within Native American tribes as a herbal laxative to treat constipation. It consists of vitamin B, calcium, potassium, manganese and anthraquinone glycosides. It contains anti-aging, laxative, anti-cancer, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The dried bark can be used to heal skin and treat acne, hydrate skin, strengthen hair and prevent itchy scalp and dandruff, relieve constipation, treat gastrointestinal disorders and gallstones, treat insomnia, promote weight loss and relieve pain associated with hemorrhoids.
WARNING: Side effects may include diarrhea, or lowered potassium levels (with prolonged usage). It is advised that pregnant and breastfeeding women avoid this product. The usage of the fresh, non-dried Cascara will result in gastrointestinal upset, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It is recommended to consult a healthcare professional before usage.
