Chaste trees are native to the Mediterranean region, in which the fruit, leaves and stem are harvested and used to create medicinal herbs.
Chasteberry contains various alkaloids and falvonoids, and is believed to have anti-aphrodisiac properties. This makes it efficient in treating menstrual difficulties, reducing premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cramps, breast tenderness and pressure, headaches, bloating and fatigue. It also assists in stimulating breast milk production, and can be administered as a herbal treatment for infertility, and possibly combat breast cancer.
Chasteberry helps balance progesterone and estrogen levels, although it may have a negative effect on males, reducing their sex drive. This herb can be taken in the form of tea, tablet and extract.
