Native to the Caribbean and South America, Gauiacum contains diuretic, laxative, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, diaphoretic and expectorant properties. The leaves, flowers and bark are used to create alternative medicinal treatment for high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, rheumatism, abcesses, blisters, sores, boils, gout, syphillis, arthritis, rheumatism, toothache, respiratory conditions and swollen glands.
