The root bark of the Jamaican Dogwood plant is used to make herbal medicine. It may be useful in the treatment of anxiety and fear, insomnia, nervous tension, nerve pain, migraines and menstrual cramps. It causes sleepiness, decreases pain and swelling and decreases muscle spasm. It contains antispasmodic, sedative and analgesic properties.
