The flowers and leaves of the Alchemilla plant are dried and used to create Lady’s Mantle, a medicinal herb. Widespread in Britain, Ireland and throughout mainland Europe, it is commonly found growing along roadsides.
Lady’s Mantle is rich in tannins, sacylic acid, essential oil, bitter substances and phytosterols. It contains vitamin C and numerous minerals. It contains anti-aging, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Lady’s Mantle can be taken both internally and externally, as a tea, made into an extract, cream and tinctures. It’s benefits include minimising menstrual bleeding for women with excess, reduces menstrual pain, reduces duration of menstruation, combats vaginal infections, soothes rashes, inflamed wounds, cuts and scrapes, acne, insect bites and acts as a digestive aid. It can be used orally, as a mouthwash, to treat sore throats, gum bleeding, laryngitis and mouth ulcers. Pregnant women in the late stages of their pregnancy can use Lady’s Mantle to possibly enhance milk production and prevent miscarriage.
WARNING: Lady’s Mantle can be used by pregnant women, however, it is advised not to be administered during the early stages. It is recommended to consult a healthcare professional before usage.
