Whole Red Lentils also known as, Lentille, Lens, Adas, Masoor, Crimson, etc. Whole Red Lentils are 1/2 cm wide with an earthy flavour and when cooked are soft in texture. They are a seep orange-red colour. They have traditionally been used as a meat substitute and consumed for over 8,000 years. Originating in South-western Asia along the Indus River. They are known as a staple food for many South Asian cultures. The actual lentil is a tiny lens-shaped pulses which are the dried seed of any legumes, such as beans and peas. Lentils are the seed of a small shrub and are dried after harvesting.
